Today, on what was to be her 70th birthday, I’m thinking about my lovely mother, who we lost to cancer in February. The garden has been my place of solace. She is everywhere I look; in the roses she grew for me from cuttings, in the pink colours we love, in the plants we shared & admired, and the places we sat together and watched it all grow. More so now than any other year, I hanker to see it all flourish. My mother inspired my love of gardening for which I’m eternally grateful.
Today of all days, I’m seriously indebted for the weeds, which shall provide much needed distraction, come rain come shine.
May all of you, who find yourselves coping with sorrow of the loss of loved ones, be able to find solace in your gardens.
Stay safe and healthy. Px
